Golf Events in the UK
Do you enjoy watching golf as you enjoy playing it? The UK is hosting many prestigious golf tournaments that enable you to see the world’s best golfers playing live. Listed below are only a few of many golf events that are scheduled to take place in 2013.

European Tour. The second most important tour in men’s golf (after the elite PGA Tour) is held annually since 1972. It was initially held exclusively in Europe but it is today played both inside and outside the Old Continent. The UK will held 6 tournaments in 2013:
- BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club in Surrey
- Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness
- 2013 Open Championship at Muirfield Golf Links in Gullane
- Johnnie Walker Championship at the Gleneagles Hotel
- Wales Open at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport
- Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at the Old Course of St Andrews

Women’s British Open. The most important tournament in female professional golf is classified both as a part of the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour. It is held annually at the Old Course of St Andrews.

PGA EuroPro Tour. The 2013 schedule of the men’s developmental professional golf tour foresees tournaments at Wensum Course (Norfolk), Astbury Hall (Shropshire), Burhill Golf Club (Walton on Thames), Collingtree Park Golf Club (Northampton), Frilford Heath Golf Club (Oxfordshire), Moray Golf Club (Lossiemouth), Concra Wood Golf Club (Monaghan), Rowallan Castle Golf Club (Ayrshire), Mar Hall (Renfrewshire), Longhirst Hall Golf Club (Northumberland), Dale Hill Golf Club (Wadhurst), The Oxfordshire (Oxford), Montrose Golf Links (Angus), Moor Allerton Golf Club (Leeds) and Prince’s Golf Club (Sandwich Bay).

European Seniors Tour. It is organised by the PGA European Tour, while the tournaments are played both within and outside Europe. The 2013 schedule foresees 5 tournaments in the UK:
- PGA Seniors Championship at the Mottram Hall (Cheshire)
- Wales Senior Open at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club
- Senior Open Championship at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club
- Scottish Seniors Open at the Old Course of St Andrews
- Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters at the Woburn Golf and Country Club

The Amateur Championship. Like its name suggests, it is a tournament for amateur golfers that is held annually in the UK. The championship title, however, is also contested by amateur golfers from outside the UK. In 2013, it will be held at the Royal Cinque Ports (additional course – Prince’s Golf Club, Sandwich).
